A Nigerian Catholic priest working in Malawi, Father Kelvin Ugwu has reacted to the crisis that shook the marriage of a music legend, 2face Idibia, also called 2baba.
DAILY POST recalls that 2baba’s wife, Annie Idibia, had criticized him for staying at her former lover’s house, Pero, a measure that sparked discussions between her and brother-in-law Uduak on social media.
Reacting to the saga that has drawn the attention of concerned Nigerians since Friday morning, the renowned Catholic priest blamed Annie for escalating an issue that had to be handled privately.
According to him, the ‘war’ of social networks was not part of the vows they took at the altar during their conjugal bliss, and he emphasized that the readers of his publications and those who react in the same medium, do not have the capacity to resolve the problems.
Reverend Kelvin made the comment in a post on his verified Facebook page.
The post reads: “Annie and Tuface’s Marriage Before Social Media Court: Why is everyone talking about Annie and Tuface’s marriage? Why are some of your horrible stories trending? Why are people taking sides with Annie or Tuface?
“Simple… Someone decided to take a private matter to social media as if part of the vows they made in church were to update people on social media about the stories coming out of their bedroom.
2face is slowly dying: brother reacts when Annie Idibia drags her husband and family away
“Tuface met Annie when she was 15 years old. Even before I shot the Africa Queen video in 2004, they were already dating. These two know themselves more than anyone wants to analyze. They will still know how to solve their problems on their own.
“In life and in marriage, there are times when you will surely want to scream and scream for everyone to hear. There are times when you just want to report everything on social media. . . But from experience, social media will increase the problem. People don’t really care. Even if they do, there’s no way they’ll know the whole story between the two of you.
“In fact, there are those who are hoping to use their story to catch a cruise ship and attract traffic. Some influencers who have never been in your shoes will paint you with a color that even Michelangelo never knew existed.
“We can understand with Annie what she’s going through, but in the end, you still need a certain level of discipline and emotional maturity to know the right place to take your problem and get the right help. That is why we have trained advisers, psychologists, lawyers or trusted friends ”.
