First look at the Disney + series WandaVision just weeks away, and new leaks have sparked more rumors. Some fans think they just saw Black Widow herself Scarlett Johansson in a leak WandaVision add pictures. Others think they have found out what role Kathryn Hahn will play after she appears in the trailer. While some theories have been disproved, others are gaining steam.
Will Kathryn Hahn be Agatha Harkness of the MCU?
When Marvel let the WandaVision trailer in the middle of last month’s Emmy Awards, fans quickly noticed a new face. Kathryn Hahn appeared in the video as nosy neighbor Wanda and Vision next door.
The clip did not reveal her character’s name. But according to Nerdist, a popular fan theory is that Hahn will play the role of Agatha Harkness. In the comics, Agatha is a powerful witch who first appears Fantastic Four # 94. She was one of the last characters created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby together before Kirby left for DC Comics in 1970.
Agatha finally moved to the Avengers title in Avengers # 128. In that issue, she saved the titular heroes and revealed her plan to teach Scarlet Witch magic techniques. Agatha and Scarlet Witch have a long history together in the comics. In fact, Agatha is a key player in Wanda’s life.
Some fans think Agatha could be a major player at level 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There is also a theory that she could bring the Fantastic Four into the MCU.
Was Scarlett Johansson seen on the set of ‘WandaVision’?
Some recent photos from the set of WandaVision featured a blond woman who many believed to be Scarlett Johansson. This immediately sparked fan theories about Black Widow / Natasha Romanoff making a cameo in the Disney + series.
WandaVision reportedly began after the events at Avengers: Endgame. As fans know, this means Black Widow is canonically dead. But then again, so does Vision. A popular theory is that Wanda handles reality in a way that brings Vision back to her.
But the chances of seeing Johansson in the series are slim. Wanda and Natasha had a strong relationship in the movies. But it doesn’t make much sense to bring Black Widow back to a timeline before the solo film is released.
CBR reporting that those set pictures of Johansson, largely hoping squashing that she would not make a cameo. Instead, they wore images of Hahn with a blonde wig. Fans seem to have to wait until May 2021 to see more of Black Widow.
