In the mid-season final of ‘Vikings’, Bjorn Ironside is stabbed

In 10 episodes of Season 6, the Russian Vikings descend on Scandinavia on the orders of Prince Oleg (Danila Kozlovsky). Both Ivar (Alex Høgh Andersen) and Hvitserk (Marco Ilsø) have joined him, and they will go up against Bjorn and the rest of the Vikings.

A big battle takes place, and at one point, it looks like Ivar is throwing Bjorn on the beach. However, Ivar should be somewhere else at the time. In a new clip visible at San Diego Comic-Con @ Home 2020, it was reported that Bjorn is somehow still leaving him from the wound, riding out on his horse to the Russian army.

Bjorn remains badly injured in season 6B

In the first episode of the new season, it is revealed that Bjorn is badly injured and will not last long. Everyone seems to think that Ivar killed him, and that he could not survive. However, Ivar may not have dealt with Bjorn the blow, it was someone else, because he was fighting somewhere else at the time.

Bjorn struggles to hold on to life in Kattegat where he will be recaptured. His wives, Gunnhild (Ragga Ragnars) and Ingrid (Lucy Martin) are struggling because they hope Bjorn can do it somehow. King Hakon (Mishaël Lopes Cardozo) arrives with confirmation, but goes to Prince Oleg (Danila Kozlovsky) and tells him that Bjorn is dead, in a similar plan already. However, he is killed shortly after giving the information, but he has already finalized the plan to make them all think that Bjorn is dead while he is still alive.

Bjorn sacrifices himself to save everyone

The plan comes to fruition when Bjorn rides out on his badly injured horse to meet Russia ahead of his army. He really frightens the Russian who believes he is dead.

“He’s a dead man,” says Ganbaatar (Andrei Claude), a captain in Oleg’s army. “It’s kind of a prank. And I will prove it. He shoots Bjorn with three arrows and says, “See you! He is dead. ”

However, Bjorn manages to be uncertain about the Sword of the Kings. “It’s impossible,” Ivar says, while Hvitserk replies, “I told you Ivar. You can’t kill him. ”

“He is not a god,” Ivar tells him, but his brother tells him, “You are not. ”

Bjorn raises his sword into the air and at this point, the rest of his army is behind him and just behind the Russian army appears. All important people in Norway responded to Bjorn ‘s call for help, and together they stand. The fact that Bjorn is still alive is very much a takeaway from Russia, and many pull back while others force them to fight.

The Vikings win the battle, and the Russians leave. Bjorn won’t make it from his wounds though, but he’s given a great burial and is lifted up on the horse with his sword in the air attached to a metal chain holding it upright. It happens in the first episode of season 6B, so unfortunately, Bjorn is not part of the following events.

Bjorn sacrificed himself in a plan that works perfectly, saving Kattegat and the rest of Scandinavia when Rus fled. After his death, King Harald Finehair (Peter Franzén) returns to Kattegat, which is no longer a prisoner of Oleg, just as people vote on who is Kattegat ‘s next Queen, Gunnhild or Ingrid. Ingrid says she has a Bjorn baby, but fans will remember Harald sexually assaulting her, so it’s not clear who the father really is.

Harald and Ingrid get married, while Gunnhild denies Harald’s request for marriage, and dies by suicide. She thinks she will go to Valhalla to be with Bjorn.

It is a truly sad end to Bjorn Ironside’s life, even though he sacrificed himself for his people, liberating himself.
