It is common for actors to build strong connections when doing a project. With the long hours, team effort to do something together, and a bit of separation from normal life, it makes sense that actors are usually close together. And when it comes to Amazon Prime Video presentation The Wilds, viewers may wonder if the actors who play teenage girls are as close in real life as they are to the screen.
The actors burned the show for five months in New Zealand, filming challenging scenes in the water, wind, moments acting out difficult and emotional communication. Read on to see if the experience made friends off screen, too.
What is ‘The Wilds’
The Wilds is a dystopian drama that ended on Amazon Prime Video in December 2020. The show, created by Sarah Streicher, follows several teenage girls as they embark on an uphill battle against starvation, hunger, and the unknown while going on an island together.
The show has already been green for season two with Amazon, and can’t get enough fans.
Are the castmates friends?
In a “Flashback Friday” video tour on set, the actors talked about their time working together. A few talked about how to get their make-up and their explosion doing so.
“We all do our preparations at the same time,” said Mia Healey, who plays Shelby Goodkind. “It’s a lot of fun to be in the lorry and we’re all talking and laughing, and it’s really a nice time to come to life before we have to move on. ”
Jenna Clause, who plays Martha in the show, spoke about how she felt “out of it [her] league ”and“ under pressure ”came into the show, but with the help of her teammates she helped get through.
“Spending a lot of time with Reign [Edwards] – with someone who has been in this business, it seems, I really couldn’t ask anyone who knows this better, ”she said in the clip.
Edwards said the team bonded deeply for the first time when filming the mud scene for the show – Edwards said. indeed it was stopped, and every actor had to take it out. “We were able to show each other our acting chops and I was able to honor everyone, which was great,” she said.
Shannon Berry, who plays Dot Campbell, said the team had a lot of singing parties between sets.
Sophia Ali, the actress behind Fatin Jadmani, said that when she steps back and reflects on it, she realizes how close the group is. “Usually when we’re done, it’s very likely, ‘go ahead,’ you forget how close you’ve been because you’ve spent so much time together,” she said. . “And then you really understand, man, I love you. ”
It is clear that this group of talented professionals became close friends while they were ready.
The friendship of the team includes a smile and more tender moments together
In another cast interview with BuzzFeed, the actors answered questions about their relationship with each other. Edwards remembered filming a scene with Healey that made her laugh.
But as well as the funny moments, they shared vulnerable ones as well.
“You gave me so much advice when you were ready,” Berry told Ali. “We used to sit on the balcony of the Sophia hotel and just like that, talking all night away. Ali responded by saying that she likes to advise Berry.
The team also talked about sharing memes and TikToks together – the universal love language for friendship for millennials and Generation Z together.
