‘The Haunting of Bly Manor’: Why the Narrator Makes the Story More Tragic

Before the final program, it becomes clear that Flora is the grown bride. Gugino plays an older version of Jamie, the ground keeper at Bly Manor. Attendees at the wedding include those who took part in Bly Flora ‘s upbringing, including Jamie. Her role in telling the story is to get to know Flora with the past, which she long ago forgot.

Bly Manor spoils the love story of Jamie and Dani

To save young Flora (Amelie Bea Smith), Dani must take on the role of “wife in the lake,” Viola (Kate Siegel). A character would go straight from the pages Romance of old clothes, Viola is the ghost responsible for so many of Bly Manor ‘s deaths. From Peter Quint (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) to the ghostly figures of a pest doctor and a young boy, Viola’s death grip has turned Bly into a permanent home for many visitors to the mansion.

In the final program, Dani said: “It’s you, it’s me, it’s us” to save Flora’s life. Speaking those words, Dani invited Viola to take over her living body. Sadly, Dani could only hold Viola’s evil spirit for so long.

Dani and Jamie reunite at the end of ‘The Haunting of Bly Manor’

After several happy years with Jamie, Dani realized she needed to return to Bly and put Viola to rest. She couldn’t risk losing Jamie at Viola’s hands. “The beast had actually lain down, and the beast, at the moment, had gone through,” Jamie said of Dani returning to Bly in episode 9. “And she couldn’t most importantly put the risk. Her most important person. ”

Jamie spent several years without her until Flora ‘s wedding day, when he had the opportunity to share the story with those who lived there. In the final moments of the show, Jamie falls asleep in a chair, the door to her hotel room open – a habit she had practiced after Dani left. The last picture of Bly Manor Event Dani’s hand rested on Jamie’s shoulder – a painful nod to the show’s tagline: “Dead doesn’t mean to go.”
