Netflix’s Bly Manor Event based on several stories by the terrifying gothic novelist Henry James. Find out what his works are in the latest installment of The drag franchise.

‘The Haunting of Bly Manor’ is based on ‘The Turn of the Screw’
Turn the screw published in October 1898. The horror novel is told from the point of view of an anonymous narrator, who shares the story of a ruler who was placed in charge of the Wingrave children.
Lots of characters in Bly Manor Event named after the source material characters. Showrunner Mike Flanagan did the same with him Hill House Event, maintaining the names of Shirley Jackson characters.
“I wonder [The Turn of the Screw] as the backbone of this season – [the] through a line that carries us from start to finish, ”explained Flanagan Radar Games.
“There are three [stories by Henry James] a real blow at the heart of this season, ”explained Flanagan later Vanity Fair. “They all have a very dark edge.”
Bly Manor is known as a “very, very good place”. This is a nod to another of James’ stories, The place is pretty good. Turn the screw he had already been told several times, so Flanagan felt obliged to use other stories by James. Bly Manor Event.
‘The Romance of Certain Old Clothes’ by Henry James is told in ‘The Haunting of Bly Manor’

After a violent death at the hands of her sister, Perdita, Viola’s spirit is confined to a chest of drawers. Waiting for her daughter to come of age and get the riches left for her, Viola is upset when Perdita opens the box.
As in the original story, the ghost hands of Viola killed her sister. Viola and Perdita become confined to Bly Manor, where their souls lose all memory of their previous lives.

Oisean JollyAnother short story by James is also mentioned Bly Manor Event. The narrative of Henry Wingrave (Henry Thomas) captures the essence of this story, which tells the story of a man with an alter ego – the ghost of a potential man.
After a secret romance with his brother’s wife, Henry learns that he is the father of young Flora (Amelie Bea Smith). Before he can find a way to make things work between them, Henry’s brother and sister-in-law die sadly.
Losing his temper, Henry lets go of his work and his alcohol. Instead of opting to be there for his daughter and nephew, Henry introduces the darker version of himself.
