After meeting Ms. Butters in an Oct. 8 program of Supernatural, the Winchesters refocused their efforts on defeating Chuck.
Time is running out for them and the audience, so what’s the plan? The whole family has to be brought together, something that makes sense when you look at “Gimme Shelter” as a whole. Here is a repetition.
Cass and Jack are secret agents
A sheriff shows them video footage of someone leaning over Jack with a mask on. They carved a “lie” in his chest. Cass summons a demon to see if they killed Connor, and the one who shows the blame on people.
Plus, Rowena’s reformed hell and no other deals. This demon Zack is bored and offers help with the matter but Cass turns him down.
Elsewhere at the church community center, an employee steals from the donation box. Outside, she hears a voice called “Valerie!” The masked weirdo confronts her and she screams.
Cass calls Dean with an update and suggests that Jack voluntarily sign up to get covered. “Get the Kool-Aid to drink.” It hangs up.
Dean and Sam talk about killing Amara, and Sam is a little upset about setting it up. They’ve been on the road for two days and haven’t found her, but Dean wants to keep going.
Jack goes to the church center and tells Sylvia, the girl from the first sight, that he wants to help. She directs it to paperwork. Cass walks in and wants to talk to the minister and tells him that Valerie is missing.
In a Sawa scene like this, Valerie wakes up tied to a chair with her hand stuck in a finger tapping device. A TV screen cuts in on it and shows the word “thief.” One finger is cut off.
Back at the community center, Jack asks Sylvia if she wants to talk about Connor. She is sad. She tells that she used to be there and they were close. Jack gives up his lost mother and the girl tells him that the same thing happened to her. “It’s just me and Pastor Joe,” she says. That’s her father.
They have a nice conversation but the girl warns him to trust “God” and not people. The irony.
Cass questions the minister about Connor and Valerie and learns someone who used to work there as a tech person. The minister also tells Cass that Connor was gay and that this upset some people in the congregation. They discuss religion before separating ways.
Surprisingly, it’s Amara
On the way, Sam and Dean stopped for gas. After looking at traffic, they learn that backup is on the highway, thwarting Dean’s plans for nice casino food. They agree on pig filters, turn around to enter the store, and Amara stands there. “I think we can do better than that.”
They ask how she found them. She smelled them from two states and heard the APB angel Cass. Amara suggests they go for food – perogies.
Back in the trap room, Valerie loses another finger. The minister leads a study group where they welcome Jack into the fold. Cass walks in and hears the minister ask Jack to share personal testimony.
Falters Jack, so Cass will volunteer. He talks about blind faith, following commands, and some terrible things he did. He also said he found a family and became a father.
While serving soup, Jack asks the minister about uniting people from different backgrounds. Their conversation is interrupted when the centre’s TV comes on and shows Valerie in torment. Jack tries to disconnect the TV and finds a device connected to it.
At the restaurant, Sam and Dean suggest Amara for helping Chuck. She doesn’t think they can stop him and she doesn’t want to betray her brother. Dean tells him about Jack and how they want to catch God.
She talks about their cloud power. They are twins, creation and destruction. She explains that the creation came when they parted and she likes it. Amara is not down for the reason.
The Winchesters leave. Dean goes back inside to ask Amara why she brought the mother back. She says she wanted him to see that Mary was just a man, not a myth. She says Now always better than Then and she tried to teach him to accept his life.
Amara also says that she thought it would help him release his anger issues. She admits she was wrong. He goes and calls another cosmic dick who wants to pull the strings. He says she is trapped in a false dream world just the way they are. His rant sinks in a bit and she says she will think about helping.
Jack and Cass crack the case
Cass and Jack visit Rudy’s place and break down the door. They found his rotting body in the bedroom with the word “lust” written over it in blood.
At the center, everyone is showering out. Sylvia sits outside while her friend walks out, giddy that she shared that video of Valerie online. She stabs her friend in the side and escapes.
Cass and Jack find her at the site of the torture. Jack explodes before she can hurt her claiming father. She scares Jack about getting daddy cushions and stabs him but he recovers. Cass puts the sleeping angel’s whammy on her and heals Valerie’s hand. Pastor Joe asks, “What are you?” He learns Cass’ s mystery.
Sylvia was taken to a squad car while Pastor Joe talks to Cass and Jack. He says that she will not be alone. The police car driver is no bigger than Zack the devil from earlier. What’s going on here?
Cass and Jack drive home and talk about Jack ‘s burden. He has been lying to Cass. Billie turned it into a bomb and when Chuck and Amara go, he too will die. He says this is the only way Sam and Dean can forgive him and asks Cass not to tell them. This is too much to bear. Cass is hurt.
Back at the bunker, Dean takes a sip of beer when he sees Cass leave. He asks where Jack is and where he is headed. “To find another way.” Jack is in his room when Cass breaks up and tells Dean he has something to tell him in case he comes back.
