‘Prodigal Son’: When Does Season 2 Premiere on FOX?

Quarter 1 of Prodigal son it ended with a murder that left many shooting questions for viewers. Here’s what we know about season 2 of the FOX series, including the date of the premiere, a possible story, and a cast addition.

‘Prodigal Son’ returns to FOX in January

The first season of Prodigal son first look in September 2019 and run until April 2020. If things had gone according to schedule, the new season would have dropped sometime this fall.

But COVID-19 pandemics have forced TV shows around the world to close. And not many shows started filming until summer 2020.

It has been over a year since then Prodigal son debuted at first, but fortunately, fans won’t have to wait much longer to dive back into Whitly’s family drama. Main season 3 will be on Tuesday, January 12, at 9pm EST on FOX. New programs will be broadcast weekly on Tuesdays and will be available on the FOX app and website the following day.

Where did season 1 leave him?

Quarter 1 of Prodigal son let viewers dive into the mind of serial killer Dr. Martin Whitly (Michael Sheen) and his son-in-law, Malcolm Bright (Tom Payne). Still burdened with the anxious events of his youth, Malcolm was able to put together the mystery of the woman in the box at the end of the season.

But, as it turned out, Dr. Whitly was not the villain Malcolm was looking for. His mother’s friend, Nicholas Endicott (Dermot Mulroney), was the real killer. And Malcolm’s sister, Ainsley (Halston Sage), ends up killing Endicott to save him.

Catherine Zeta-Jones joins the ‘Prodigal Son’ team for season 2

Academy award-winning actress Catherine Zeta-Jones will take on serial killer character Michael Sheen when Prodigal son returns for season 2. She will play Dr. Vivian Capshaw, a psychiatrist who is responsible for overseeing Dr. Whitly.

As reported by EW, Dr. Whitly leaves his hospital room and is placed on hospital duty. Dr. Capshaw oversees his daily duties while assigning menial work to him. But when she sees his medical abilities, the psychiatrist will develop a new respect for the killing surgeon.

“Catherine Zeta-Jones’ outstanding talent is the perfect foil for a brilliant Michael Sheen, ”suggested FOX Entertainment President Martin Thorn. “I can’t wait to see these two experts go face-to-face in a season that is about to build the bar set by a particular season. ”

True Detector star Michael Potts joins the team as Dr. Whitly’s new therapist, Dr. Brandon Marsh. And Tony Award-winning Christian Borle takes on the role of Friar Pete, a well-known serial killer friar whom Malcolm consults for one of his cases.

“Season Two builds on Bright’s personal life in turmoil following the horrific actions of his sister Ainsley in the end of Season One,” Fox’s summary for season 2 reads. “Now he has to ‘take care of her’ and protect his mother, Jessica Whitly (Bellamy Young), from a mystery that could separate the family from each other again! In addition to difficult matters, Martin tries to deepen his relationship with Bright, his prodigal son, but forging this connection leads to a horrific turn and revelation. ”
