‘Power Book II: Ghost’: Who Plays Cane Tejada?

What is ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ about?

The series is the first of four planned spinoffs of the famous Starz drama by Courtney Kemp and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. Power Book II: Phantom stars Mary J. Blige and Method Man, as well as returning stars Michael Rainey Jr. and Naturi Naughton.

Also returning from the original series are Shane Johnson, Gianni Paolo and Quincy Tyler Bernstine. New members for Power Book II: Phantom they include Daniel Bellomy, Paige Hurd, Melanie Liburd, Justin McManus, Lovell Adams-Gray, LaToya Tonodeo and McClain.

The character Cane Tejada is played by Woody McClain. The actor started out on the scene first playing Bobby Brown in BET’s The new edition story miniseries. He reiterated the role of the sequel miniseries, The story of Bobby Brown.

In an interview with Complex, McClain talked about joining the team of the first one Power spinoff and his character Cane.

“[T]hat has been a big challenge, honestly, ”he explained. But Courtney Kemp did an amazing job creating these “books” so that we could understand our characters and really get into the people we get the chance to show on screen. For me personally, without Courtney giving me that, I might be lost. She knows exactly what she wants and it’s always great to work with people like that. We don’t have to do anything. It’s all designed. We just bring them to life.

For the actor, he says there is a special part about playing Cane that always connects with the character.

“It’s special about my character,” he said. “When it came to Bobby Brown, that was his love of accomplishment. I could relate to that as a former dancer. When it comes to Cane, it’s all about family. What he has is a family first. I don’t care what I go through, I make sure my family is good. That’s something I can relate to in real life. No worries, I will make sure everyone in my family has a car before I even buy one for myself. I always put my family first. So, that’s the way it is [I think about] every job I take – I make sure I can relate to it on a personal and real level.

Power Book II: Phantom he is expected to return for his second season on Starz later this year.
