Seven months into the regular Droughtlander, Outlander fans are desperate for any news about season 6. But when Starz recently shared a promo for their 2021 programming, the time-travel drama was no longer visible.
The neglect has sent fans into a frenzy about the future of the series, and they want to know what’s going on. We promise – and so does star Sam Heughan – that everything will be alright. Here is what we know about season 6 of Outlander.
Starz updated ‘Outlander’ for season 6 in 2018
Leaving Outlander out of the Starz 2021 promo some fans were wondering if season 6 would happen at all. But there is no need to worry. The network updated the series for a sixth season back in 2018.
Just weeks before Outlander the team and crew were planning to start production on season 6 in the spring, the pandemic caused them some seizures. Since then, many demonstrations have gone back to production with new COVID safety protocols. However, the situation has created a much greater challenge for him Outlander.
Executive producer Maril Davis has outlined Outlander as the “least COVID-friendly” show ever because of the large number of extras and the steamy scenes between stars Heughan and Caitriona Balfe.

If they start filming in early 2021 as promised by Heughan, fans are very likely to see the first screening of season 6 in late summer or early fall. Fans just have to be patient.
