Costumes make up a good portion of a show. Many exhibitors allocate large budgets that go specifically to costume creatures. Some shows will be like Feis and the City and Gossip Girl has influenced how their viewers see the show through their costumes.
While some exhibitors like to stick to the basics when it comes to their clothing habits, others prefer to think outside the box. Outlander exhibitors get creative with culinary items to create the iconic costumes that audiences will see.
‘Outlander’ is about time travel
Claire Randall, a World War II nurse, is trying to revive her marriage to an MI6 agent. They both decide to have their second honeymoon in Scotland. When they arrive, Claire behaves from the 1940s to the 1700s. She also realized that her freedom and her life could be in danger after she became a member of the Mackenzie clan, a Highlander rebel group.
To save herself, she decides to marry Highlander Jamie Fraser, and along the way, she ends up falling in love with him. Jamie gets caught up in the brutal and sad Randall, who torments him. Claire and the rest of the Highlander clan reunite and free Jamie from Randall’s bells.
Claire comes closer to the rest of the clan by warning them that the Jacobite plan is coming to an end. They initially mistake it for a healer but warm up to it. She realizes she is pregnant and tells Jamie, who takes the news in good progress.
Claire traveled back in time and returned to Scotland to be with Frank. She tells him about her travel adventures. He asks her to forget about Jamie and let him raise their child as his own. Jamie goes to battle at Culloden War and vows to die in battle. Twenty years later, Frank dies, and Claire brings her daughter back to Scotland with her. She learns that Jamie did not die in the war and is working to find her.
At Culloden, Jamie takes revenge against Randall. He goes to jail to kill Randall but is executed. He befriends the governor, who paroles him and offers him a job. Jamie then gets into a sexual relationship, which leads to William’s illegitimate child. He reunites with Claire, and they move and claim the land known as Fraser’s Ridge as their own.
Time travel is an important element
Outlander the audience enjoys it because of the love stories, interconnected stories, and time travel. The show’s action reps were trying to put the record just about how the characters can travel through time.
Exhibitors noted that time and space are crucial. The characters need to be at certain places like Ocracoke and Abandawe Cave for time travel to be possible. In addition, the characters must wear special gemst stones so that they can travel safely. However, there are some gaps in this theory.
Even if someone is at the right place and time and wearing the right gem stones, it is not a guarantee that they will be able to travel time. Some fans think this is because time travel could be a sign of a legacy, as in the case of Claire and Brianna.
The showrunners get creative with the suits
Part of the reason Outlander the latest scenery and couture are so popular. The characters are always seen with pieces that are appropriate for time and fashion. The women usually wear corsets while the men wear kilts with nothing else underneath.
The actors have expressed their gratitude for the costumes claiming to have allowed them to live through the women at the time. Actress Caitriona Balfe noted that staying in a corset for so long during filming has allowed her to feel as brutal as the women at the time, especially with the clothes.
according to Marie Claire, the Outlander a creative team uses household materials to make the outfits perfect. The show’s stylists use cheese graters, blowtorches, and pumice stones to create the exemplary fabrics and to give them a vivid look. Some of the clothes are even tied and baked to make them look as real as possible.
