‘Outlander’ Author Diana Gabaldon Reveals Why She Never Intended to Release the First Book

Diana Gabaldon is an award-winning author best known for creating the sweetheart Outlander hemisphere. But as it happened, she did not think the world would hear her story. In a recent tweet, Gabaldon revealed that she did not intend to release the first one Outlander novel.

Diana Gabaldon was a college professor

Prior to becoming a well-selling author, Gabaldon was a professor of science at Arizona State University. According to her website, the Outlander the writer has three science degrees – one in Zoology, another in Marine Biology, and a Doctorate in the Ecology of Speech Behavior.

When you talk to January Issue, Gabaldon said she started writing the first one Outlander novel for use. And as a college professor with access to library resources, she believed that historical fiction would be an easy place to start.

“I wanted to write a book to use to learn how to write novels, and I was thinking, what kind of thing is easier to write,” Gabaldon explained. “And I thought it was probably a mystery because I read more of that than anything. And then I thought, ‘Well, mysteries have plots. I’m not sure if I can do that. ‘”

“I thought it might be a historical novel because I was a research professor,” she continued. “Well, I was a scientist, but I knew how to use the library, and it’s easier to look at things than to make them up completely. So I said, ‘Okay. I will write a historical novel. ‘”

She never expected to release her first book ‘Outlander’

When Gabaldon first started writing Outlander book, she did not think he would ever see the light of day. In a recent Q&A session on Twitter with fans, the author revealed that she never planned to release the book.

Outlander was my practice book. ” Gabaldon tweeted. “I never intended to show it to anyone; it was just for me to learn how to write a novel. I did. But then I _had_ this novel, and Stuff happened. “

Gabaldon told another fan that she hired a publishing producer before she finished the novel when she realized she might be on something. “I was probably about half way through when I thought it was good,” he said she wrote in the tweet. “And I got a representative at that time. He didn’t send it to editors until it was ready, however. ”

Gabaldon released the first one Outlander novel in 1991. Since then, she has written an additional seven books for the series. And she has also created a parallel universe with Lord John’s series of novels.

The Outlander books have gone on to become one of the best-selling literary series ever. And the STARZ variation of the novels has won several awards, including the Golden Globe nomination for Best Television Series.
