On the 1970s program Toilet on the Moor, the throw was a big family.

Working together from 1974 to 1983, the actors grew different from each other over the years.

Unfortunately, once the show’s producer and actor Charles Ingalls, Michael Landon, began a relationship with an on-set-ready artist, he went on to become a full-fledged show star.

In her 2009 memoir Prairie story, Gilbert recounted the moment she found out that Landon had left his wife for a makeup artist working on the set of Toilet.

Gilbert and her family were very close to the Landons: she was his children’s best friends and Landon Lynn’s wife and Gilbert’s mother were good friends too.

In fact, after her father’s death in 1976, Landon became the surrogate father for 11-year-old Gilbert. Her mother broke the news that the Landons had broken into her.

“She said he saw Cindy, whom she described alternately as the makeup artist and the former assistant girl,” Gilbert wrote. “I think she said that Auntie Lynn had thrown a bottle of vodka at Mike’s head. ”

Even though the Landons were not Melissa Gilbert’s blood family, they may also have been in the depths of Michael’s betrayal of his wife on Gilbert himself.

“It is accepted that I was able to sell as Mike always did after he left his wife,” she said. “I was caught in the middle when the people around me picked sides.

“It was creating a new life for him, someone who didn’t include me. I get it now. My family’s obedience was with Aunt Lynn and the kids, so my relationship with Mike started to spread. No explanation. No discussion. I do not admit that I feel upset, betrayed and abandoned. ”

Gilbert finally had a chance to see Landon again ToiletNBC was canceled at his daughter Leslie’s wedding in 1990. Leslie played Walnut Grove teacher Etta Plum on the series from 1982 to 1984.

Actress Laura Ingalls promised him that they would get together and meet her young son Dakota.

Shortly afterwards, however, Gilbert discovered that Landon had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She visited him at his house a week before he died and the two were remembering old times.

Landon told her, “I knew you were that one,” referring to her role as Laura Ingalls.

“He drew me to him and we made fun of him,” she said. “There was no need to say anything else. That cup was more than enough. That’s what he wanted. ”
