Lowe and Gilbert’s relationship changed after ‘The Outsiders’ first scene

When Gilbert first started dating Lowe, she was more publicly known as a bonafide public figure than he was. He later became the heart – and main star – in films like Fire of St. Elmo and Oxford Blues, as well as TV shows such as The West Shield and Parks and Recreation.

She believed he may have been impatient

Perhaps all the attention, Gilbert believed, had gotten to Lowe. And the actors’ long separation times didn’t help, when they were both busy running and filming records.

In fact, she admitted, she didn’t know how to say “anyone at that age.” With so many beautiful women following her, the former Toilet on the Moor a star said, “he was really going to sample them. ”

“I don’t know for sure, but I think he overcame it whenever possible,” Gilbert wrote the memoir. Eventually, she adopted a “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy and tried to blindfold him to keep the relationship alive.

Lowe and Gilbert eventually broke things four years later, shortly after she found out she was pregnant (she remarried). He realized he was not ready for a lifelong promise, when she married Bo Brinkman less than two months later.
