Link between ‘Little House on the Prairie’ and ‘SpongeBob SquarePants’

Mermaid Man is far beyond its prime minister SpongeBob SquarePants, now an old man who still wears his superhero costume rather than the strong hero he played on TV in his youth. From the show’s first appearance until his death in 2012, Mermaid Man was played by someone who had a similar role on TV dating back decades: the Academy Award-winning actress Ernest Borgnine.

Borgnine’s film career began in the 1950s, so by the 1970s he was an established actor with several awards under his belt. In the first season of Toilet on the Moor, Borgnine appears as a guest as Johnathan, a guardian angel who was sent to watch over Laura Ingalls after the death of her brother.
