‘Law & Order: SVU’: Mariska Hargitay Reveals if the Stories on the Show Are Real

Law & order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay has been playing the character Olivia Benson since 1999. Here’s what she revealed about the show.

Hargitay starred in the 1984 film Ghoulies, in which she played the character Donna. The following year, she became a regular in the drama Downtown. She played the character Jesse Smith for 14 programs from 1986 to 1987.

In 1988, Hargitay had a recycling role as Carly Fixx in the series Falcon Crest. Hargitay is also famous for its roles in Princes Street, ER, and You can’t hurry. She joined a team Law & order: SVU in 1999.

Are the stories on ‘Law & Order: SVU’ true?

One question many viewers have is the stories Law & order: SVU. Are the stories true or are they made up for TV? In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Hargitay says the stories are true. However, sometimes times are a mixture of true stories.

“It’s a mix,” Hargitay said. “I think sometimes he’s torn off his head. This year we did some sort of stories before they came out in the media, which was deceptive. The presentation was really clear in a scary way. And sometimes it’s a combination of two stories. ”

Mariska Hargitay says the survivors are reaching out to her

Hargitay told guests The Vision that survivors of sexual violence often write her letters. They thank her for her work on display and for telling their stories.

“When I started shooting the show, I started getting different types of mail order,” Hargitay said. “Most fan posts say, ‘I like your show, can I take a selfie?’ ‘And early into the show, as soon as it started to air, I started getting letters from survivors expressing the abuse, much for the first time. [Many of the survivors] said, ‘I never told this to anyone,’ and they shared their stories of assault.

Hargitay says she felt “privileged” to receive the letters, but was surprised. She didn’t know how to respond.

“I was not an expert; I was just an actress on a TV show who had just learned the statistics that were so common – that 1 in 3 women will be attacked by a spouse or boyfriend at some point in their lives. One in four women in their 18s will be attackedth birthday. One in 6 men will be attacked by their 18th birthday.”

Hargitay says she felt she had to respond to those letters from survivors. She says she started the Joyful Heart Foundation in 2004 so she could “help survivors get their lives back on track. ”

What lies ahead for Mariska Hargitay

Hargitay is preparing for her role as Olivia Benson’s reproduction Law & order: SVU Season 22. It will also help to start the latest spinoff in the series, Law & order: Organized Crime.
