What fans are saying about Barba’s return to the inner courtroom Law & order: SVU? We have every detail.
Season 22, Episode 4 ‘Sightless in a Savage Land’
The new program of SVU aimed at murder after a 13-year-old girl named Nydia Davis (Vanessa Carrasco) went missing on New Year’s Eve. She is dropped off at the footpath of an ambulance bay and taken to hospital. Investigators learn that Nydia was sexually assaulted by her foster parent, Ajay Sharma (Bhavesh Patel), and has previously been assaulted by former foster children.
Nydia was pregnant, but Ajay gave her medication to force her to have a contraception. Her father, Mickey Davis (Brett Parks), is a combat veteran who fought in Afghanistan on six separate rounds and was wounded. After Ajay ‘s alignment, Mickey waits for him to be put in a transport car, and he shoots and murders him while he is outside the courthouse.
Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Sergeant Odafin “Fin” Tutuola (Ice-T) call on their old friend and colleague, Rafael Barba (Raúl Esparza), former ADA of the squad, pick up the case and put out. But when Barba talks to Carisi about things, he chooses to raise the case and represent the client in court.
The show in court
Both go hand in hand in court, demonstrating their skills and experiences. Barba tells prospective jury members, “But I’m not at all nice in this case. Sometimes I get loud, angry, sore when I cross-examine witnesses from the ACS, VA, and NYPD. As you can hear, that didn’t work. Does anyone have a problem with that? ”
But Carisi makes it clear that it is only about “the facts and the law.” Carisi calls the evidence “horrific” considering they have video evidence of the murder.
Barba and Carisi take turns with people on the stand, including Fin, who Barba grinds about his behavior after Mickey kills Ajay, as well as the girls Ajay called sexual assault. At one point, he argues with the judge saying that he is fighting for his client just as he was fighting for his country.
But when Mickey goes on the stand, his comments help convict him when he admits he knew where he was at the time and killed Ajay again. He will be convicted of second-degree murder and must serve three and a half years in prison.
Fans respond to Barba’s explosive return in court
Reddit was live recently about Barba’s return, and the fans didn’t hold back. The character has been popular for years, and was on the series from season 14 to season 19 until he passed away after an issue. According to his Fandom page, was involved in a difficult issue and turns on life support for a child with MDDS. After being charged with murder but eventually cleared, he walks away from his job. He was eagerly awaiting a return among many fans. This is the first time Barba has been back physically, although he has been spotted in a video call with Benson in season 21, program 13, titled “Redemption in Her Corner. ”
Fans expressed their views in a program discussion thread. Some speculated about Barba in the courtroom against Carisi, someone with whom he would work on a daily basis. One fan believes that Barba passed the cross-examination, and should have complained when Carisi started “yelling.”
“… I didn’t appreciate the show and the ego ride,” said a fan Reddit in the case of Barba. “Barba f ***** up the cross, let his client dry and let Carisi push him to confess. What did he expect? Why didn’t he complain when Carisi started turning? … ”
One fan had hoped for more between Barba and Carisi in the courtroom scenes shown, and they think the promos for the show itself “made it look like” as if both sides were defiant. going hand in hand.
“… It was strange that Carisi and Barba did not seem to have to force in the courtroom as promos looked as they would,” said a fan. “It was also sad that the courtroom scenes were just that? I literally said, ‘Oh, that’s it?’ when Mickey confessed. “
A fan calls Barba “very full of himself,” especially when he was talking to the potential jury. ““ I consider myself a nice person. It will be me, I will do that. Do you have a problem with that? ‘Well yes. He is. No. About. You, ”said the fan.
During a courtroom appearance, Barba is unique when it comes to the case, and even argues with the judge. But a fan doesn’t think Barba’s “protection” from his client was in fact “so good”.
“Barb Barbra’s defense wasn’t as good … I don’t get why he was invested in this case,” said a fan.
An observer believes that Barba actually arrived by going for an innocent judgment. They call Mickey Barba’s defense “weird / bad / sloppy. ”
“Yeah, Barba didn’t make sense to me,” said another fan. “He has arrived before, but this was so clear that it did not make sense to go for innocence. I’m sure jury members agreed with Mickey’s actions, but they’re not there to debate whether they thought it was reasonable or not, so Barba’s attempt at defense was just… weird / bad / sloppy . ”
Rafael Barba returned Law & order: SVU, and was an explosive event to say the least.
