Fans of Duggar’s family have long suspected that Jim Bob Duggar is in control of the family’s purse strings. Some claim that a 19-year-old father blacks out money earned from showing family television to his favorite children and surprises those who don’t fall according to line.

Derick recently discussed whether he and his wife had been paid for Counting on, explaining that Jill ‘s father was not open about how much money the family was making from the show.

“For a long time, Jill and I were of the opinion that the family did not make any money from the show, but, instead, it was given to us as something done as a ministry that TLC would be subsidized from time to time. to time in the form [of] reimbursement for things like gas, restaurants, travel, etc. ”He explained in an interview with blogger Katie Joy (via In Touch Weekly).

The Duggar may have earned up to $ 45,000 per program of ‘Counting On’

Although Jill and Derick thought that the family was only getting compensation for what they showed on TV, that was not true. The Duggars apparently earned somewhere between $ 25,000 and $ 45,000 per episode of their TLC reality shows, according to People.

As soon as the couple realized they were paying for the Duggars 19 Children and C.ounting and Counting on, they wanted fair compensation for their work. This seems to have caused conflict with her family to this day.

“That’s when we got a lawyer involved and we finally got some of the money back,” Jill said in a recent interview with People. “It was a process,” she said.

Jill finally got some money, but as Derick explained in a recent Q&A video posted on YouTube, this was no real disaster.

“It may have become a little more than the minimum wage,” he said, adding that it was a “portion” of what she had. “We managed to get back at least something.”

Derick has said that he and Jill were pressured not to leave ‘Counting On’

Jill and Derick left Counting on in 2017. While there are rumors that they were asked to leave because of Derick’s transphobic views, Derick says they were leaving voluntarily – but not without conflict. In a series of Instagram comments from earlier this year, stopped at father-in-law and the family truth series.

“[Counting On] still under [Jim Bob’s] control, and will attack the victims if they threaten his presentation, ”he wrote. “We were embarrassed and threatened when we tried to make a film. Now it’s not up to us now to keep the show going because more children got married, so it’s okay if we stop. ”
