Henry Winkler Told This ‘Happy Days’ Actor to Get a Role So an ‘A**Hole’ Didn’t Get It

Sometimes actors know immediately who they don’t want to work with and that’s the way it was Happy days. When the stars heard Henry Winkler, played by Arthur “Fonzie” Fonzarelli, he wanted an actor to get a special role so that no one else could. The actor told the funny story and explained why he did not stay in the role.

Winkler successfully acquired the role of Fonzie. But he had some competition.

Micky Dolenz, a former member of The Monkees, was interviewed for the part. But he was not very fit with the team as he was 6 ‘tall, which is a lot taller than the other actors. Winkler, on the other hand, was 5 feet 6 inches.

The rest is history. He went on to wear the leather jacket and his hair style is distinctive. He also avoided working with that other actor.
