Olivia Benson, played by Mariska Hargitay, has been a staple of prime-time television for two decades. Fans have watched the character grow, though it hasn’t changed much. Basically, Olivia Benson remains the same careful and careful detective she was when she was Law and order: SVU at first. Now she is the Captain of the unit, but it seems she has not yet found love. Could she Chicago PD the face, Hank Voight, the man?
Hank Voight and Olivia Benson have met thanks to crossover events
Even though Hank and Olivia are technically on different shows, the characters have been working together. Hank heads the Chicago Police Department Intelligence Unit, which puts it at the same level as Olivia’s career. Played by Jason Beghe, Hank does not have the same television history as Olivia. While Hargitay ‘s character has been on the air since 2000, the Chicago suffrage began in 2012. Fire Chicago first for the first time, and then Chicago PD in 2014. The last installment in the franchise, Chicago Med, debuted in 2015.
Even though the Chicago exhibitions take place in a different city than Law and order: SVU, Olivia and Hank have met once on screen. All Chicago franchise shows overlap, but they’ve also shared crossover events with Law and order: SVU. Olivia and the SVU team have gone to Chicago a few times, usually to help with particularly difficult cases, or to collaborate on similar crimes, which may have been committed by the same perp. One thing fans have noticed is Olivia’s trips to Chicago how well she and Hank are getting on.
Olivia Benson and Hank Voight are getting along well
Fans hoped there would be a romance for these two officers. Hank and Olivia certainly have chemistry, and Olivia deserves to be delighted. She’s had pretty much trouble. even though Law and order: SVU has been on for 20 years, Olivia still doesn’t have a happy, long-term relationship. Fans were hoping Hank might be the one. Olivia has talked about Hank and the Chicago team with her SVU team, even at regular, non-crossover times.
However, it turned out that Olivia was dating Ed Tucker, an Internal Affairs officer. However, Ed died of suicide last season after being diagnosed with brain cancer. While it’s hard for Olivia’s fans to see suffering more losses, it does mean she could be on the market again soon. There may still be hope for a romance with Hank after all.
Perhaps Hank Voight and Olivia Benson are too different so far
Fans were still seeing crossover romance, but a relationship between Hank and Olivia may not last. Aside from the long-distance difficulties, the two characters are quite different. Olivia is compassionate, and famous for advocating for those she represents. Her calm, understanding feeling helps her victims openly, and Olivia takes charge of her very important role.
Hank is more aggressive, and less adhering to Olivia’s rules. He has dealt with crimes committed by his officers, including murder outright. When kidnapper Antonio pushed his daughter through a window, Hank made sure he stayed out of trouble. Hank himself killed his son’s murderer. While Olivia occasionally twists rules for justice, it’s hard to imagine her defending a murderer, or even being one of her own.
She keeps her throat out for the people she loves, but Olivia believes in the justice system, even though she has failed from time to time. Hank seems to believe in street justice more than courtroom justice. While these differences would not usually make or break the relationship, they do indicate something greater. These two have completely different belief systems that would tend to have a short-lived relationship between these characters. But who knows – they say people are against attracting!
