Nigerian Afro-beat legend Femi Anikulapo-Kuti has said that being nominated for a Grammys award does not mean that he is not an excellent musician.
Kuti said this while referring to his father, Fela and Bob Marley who never received a Grammys name or award in his time.
The Afro-beat legend has it that Music is not about rewards but about spreading love and getting people through hard times.
On his Twitter page, he wrote: “Music is not about awards at all. Fela never won or was ever named. I don’t think Bob Marley was either.
“Music is about spreading love, making people want to go through the hard times in life, etc. and inspiration. Music must also bring comfort. “
He clarified, however, that he is not referring to anyone in particular who was nominated for the Grammys, but himself who has been nominated four times for the award.
“This Grammys tweet bothered me saying I have four nominations. And all I am saying is that it is not the goal.
“Many GREAT musicians have never been named meaning they are NOT HUGE. I was not referring to anyone but myself, some have chosen to abuse, or drag others down. Truas. ”He said.
