Nigerian singer Banky Wellington, also known as Banky W has tasted an administration led by Muhammadu Buhari for forcing citizens to sign up for NIN despite the recent spike in reported coronavirus cases in the country.
The singer who took to his Twitter account to mourn the lack of social distance among citizens at various NIN centers said the Federal government was reckless in forcing people to scramble for NIN numbers while the country fighting against pandemic.
According to him, people are discovering the same virus that has taken the lives of many of them because of NIN registration.
He urged, however, the Federal government to do something about the situation or stop it.
“How can they tell us to do social distance with one hand and use this NIN rage to bring all of us to covid?
“It is entirely up to the Federal Government and us as a country, to want this false position for NIN numbers in the middle of Covid’s second wave. People are dying.
“We should be softer, smarter and this for the sake of good.
“In the midst of the pandemic, this is how the citizens of the Government of Nigeria are swarming to get their NIN numbers.
“Totally reckless, careless and dangerous. Then tomorrow the NCDC releases covid infection levels and says social distance. This country, ”he wrote.
Recall that the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) had told telecommunications companies to ban all unregistered SIM cards in the country in two weeks.
Customers of all networks have been told to register with their national identification numbers (NINs) or risk losing their numbers.
