Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti has been critical of the reopening of schools by the Nigerian government amid a second wave of coronavirus.
Kuti, in a post shared on Instagram described the government’s act as cruelty, adding that politicians who advocated reopening their children’s schools do not attend those schools.
He said the only reason students were forced to return to school was because no one was willing to invest in virtual classes.
Kuti chose that the ruling elites of Nigeria hate the struggling citizens.
“The only reason these children and undergraduates don’t have to start again is because no one is willing to put money into meaningful classrooms for them. There is no immediate profit.
“This is wickedness. Real and simple, ”read his Instagram post.
Kuti is among concerned parents who have expressed their doubts about the resumption of schools despite the growing number of COVID-19 cases in the country.
