Actress and TV presenter Rachel Bakam is dead.
She died after a short illness. She was 38 years old.
She died Tuesday at a private hospital in Abuja and is flooded with her social media pages.
Bakam was President and Managing Director of Rayzeds Media Ltd, Founder & President of the Nigerian Water Ski and Wakeboard Federation (NWWF).
Addressing the compelling news, Chocolate City founder Audu Maikori wrote:
“My last conversation was with Rachel Bakam on 1 April 2021. She said ‘I received some bad news that was sad, I am speechless’ I asked her what had happened – clearly frightened and she replied ‘a April fools day bro! LOL ‘and my fear turned to laughter.
“She then went on to tell me about her latest fundraising campaign to empower Southern Kaduna women in rural areas by providing them with seed money and equipment.
“We talked a bit more about it and we signed it. Little did I know that I was the one who received the “bad and sad news” about her death !!
“Rachel was an inspirational woman, a sister and a mother – she was always smiling, always positive and very clear about her goals. I met her perhaps 17 years ago in Kaduna through a girlfriend and later with her husband Israel Edjeren. Recently, we were in the same Kaduna Creative organization where we advise, support and share opportunities for empowerment – and she was always very active, passionate about any project in terms of state Southern Kaduna and Kaduna as a whole – but with a strong focus on helping the least welfare and abstract refugees across the country.
“The lady was always so busy I used to wonder when she got to relax with her full schedule!
“Many have almost died recently, but this one hit me hard !!! It hit us all really hard we lost a real gem, the place where she lived, can’t fill much today because she had a special taste for what she did and that talent was driven by the she was interested in her people. We will all miss him greatly. “
