Nigerian comedian Debo Adebayo, known as Mr Macaroni, was arrested at the Lekki toll gate, along with other protesters.
Macaroni confirmed this on his Instagram live session in black maria before police seized their phones.
DAILY POST reported earlier that police sent their staff to the tollgate on Friday.
Macaroni said the decision to reopen the tax gate is a height of respect for those who lost their lives.
He stated: “In a newsletter, the Attorney General stated that everyone has the right to make a complaint but adheres to the COVID-19 protocols.
“You say it’s right for us but you limit us. You will be arrested if you are at the toll gate. I do this live to show you that some of us have been arrested.
“The democracy that our rulers, our president, like is fought by some who fought for it. Let us know if we are in a military regime.
“As president how on earth do you think the opening of the tax gate is on the things that should be done, so far what justice has come out of that panel. You are bullying youth representatives at the panel. How on earth do you think opening this tax gate is the next line of action. ”
