Former U.S President, Barack Obama reacts to Cicely Tyson’s death

Hollywood is mourning the death of a screen image, Cicely Tyson.

Tyson, who starred in major films during her acting career, was confirmed dead on Thursday night.

Viola Davis, Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry, Rihanna and other Hollywood celebrities expressed grief and condolences over Cicely’s death.

They shared moving messages about the late actress and how her trailblazing career took off for so many Black women in the entertainment industry.

Viola Davis said on her Twitter page, that her heart was broken by the news, describing Tyson as everything was for her.

Her post reads: “I’m horrified. My heart is just broken. I loved you so much !!

“You were everything to me! Cicely made me feel loved and seen and valued in a world where dark chocolate girls still have a cloak of invisibility for us.

“You allowed me to dream because I could only see the opportunities in my dreams. ”

Oprah Winfrey said in her message of condolence that Cicely’s positions reflected her values, which she never engaged.

According to her, the late screen image used “her career to illuminate the humanity of black people.”

Hollywood product, on the other hand, Tyler Perry expressed grief over Tyson’s death.

“This guy got me on my knees, Cicely was the grandmother I never had and the wisdom tree I can ever sit on to fill my cup,” the screenwriter wrote.

“My heart breaks in one beat, as she celebrates her life in the next. I think she lived for 96 years and I had to be a part of the last 16 giving me great pleasure. ”
