Just over a month after the death of Eddie Van Halen’s father to neck cancer, Wolfgang Van Halen, a musician in his own right, is releasing his debut album in memory of his beloved father.

Eddie Van Halen died in October
Diagnosed with neck cancer in 2000, famed guitarist Eddie Van Halen died on Oct. 6. His son Wolfgang, whose mother is actor Valerie Bertinelli, announced the sad news to the world via social media. .
Posting it Twitter at the time, Wolfgang said, “I can’t believe I have to write this, but my father, Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, has lost his long and hard battle with cancer in the morning. My heart is broken and I don’t think I can ever recover from it, ”he said. “I love you so much, Pop.”
One month later, on November 6, Wolfgang remembered his father, the pain of his absence was still felt strongly by the youngster who was also his band.
“1 month,” Wolfgang tweeted. “Not a second goes by without you. I miss talking to you. I miss laughing at you. I miss listening to music with you. I miss making music with you. I just miss it all. I love you so much, Pop. It’s really hard to be here without you. ”
It was announced this week that Wolfgang will be releasing his first single as a solo artist on Monday, November 16th. The song is called “Distance” and the guitar and songwriter is dedicated to his late father.
In a statement, Wolfgang said, ” Distance ‘is a song which was originally written for the first time, but was to be retained for a later period. “
He went on to explain that his thoughts were deeply affected by his father’s ongoing health issues and Wolfgang painted a picture of his daily life without one of the most important people in the world for him.
Saying that the song is “very personal,” the musician who has been playing with his father in a concert from as young as 13 said “he didn’t expect it. “Distance” has always been the first song people heard. But I also thought my father would be here to celebrate his release with me. This is for him. ”
Wolfgang visits with Howard Stern
Also Monday, Wolfgang will be a guest on SiriusXM Howard Stern Howard Stern Exhibition.
The musician’s mother tweeted about her son’s upcoming tour of the talk show, simply saying, “Monday.”
Stern’s wife Beth replied, “I can’t wait.”
Another fan commented, “You’ve built an amazing man. This will make me listen to Stern for the first time ever !! ”
“Of course he’ll be proud of his father!” Another message said.
Finally, another Van Halen fan wrote, “That’s Wolfie’s boy! Set em straight. I listen. Cheers”
