But her effort became dangerous after a night of drinking while she was alone in her hotel room. As the book says, Ryder drank several screwdriver cocktails from the minibar while smoking cigarettes and listening to Tom Waits.
“But that night, she fell asleep with cigarettes burning between her fingers and woke up to find the room in flames,” says her unauthorized biography. As a result, she rarely drinks.
“I was not back, and I would never want to return,” she said.
