More than four decades after Elvis Presley’s death, many of his followers are still fascinated by several aspects of his life and those in the King’s inner circle have been revealing things about him. which not many people knew.
Elvis’ cousin’s wife is now pouring out details about the Jailhouse Rock a star always sleeping with a gun at the edge of his bed and a few other things he would do with everyone in his bedroom in Graceland.
Presley always had a gun in his bedroom
King of Rock and Roll bought his famous estate on March 19, 1957. Ten years later, he married Priscilla and the couple welcomed their daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, in 1968. But they were not the -one people who lived at the Graceland mansion.
Jo Smith, who was married to Presley’s cousin Billy Smith, also lived there and remembered how the star always had firearms by her bedside.
“He always kept a man [gun] on his night, ”she recalled, saying he would joke and reach for the handgun if someone didn’t agree with him about something.
Smith also talked about a few things people did with Presley in his bedroom.
Other things that went upstairs at Graceland
Smith showed some “cunning things” that went behind closed doors. “He had so many books that he was strangely piled on the floor by his bed; sometimes he would read the Bible, ”she said (both sides Express) “We could have stayed up there for days and sometimes we did. Sometimes we would sit in the middle of the bed… and we would sing. ”
“We would close our eyes and hold hands and we would have elements that would be like ‘the life of Christ, the love of Christ, the peace of Christ’ and then we would close our eyes and say, ‘What is do you see? ‘”She remembered. “Everyone probably thought we were crazy. He loved arithmetic and would look up everyone ‘s numbers and tell you what character you were, or what he said about you. ”
Lisa Marie also noted that her father had so many books in the room telling Lorianne: “If you go up to his bedroom, there is a small office attached and it is nothing but books of all faiths… million bibles. He was always watching and had a strong connection to the gospel. ”
Presley’s old home is one of the most famous in America and sees 500,000 visitors each year. It is upstairs although not close to the public.
Death of Presley
Many fans around the world were shocked and saddened when news broke that Presley had died.
On August 16, 1977, his girlfriend Ginger Alden found him unresponsive on the floor of his bathroom. Attempts to revive Presley were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at 3:30 pm. He was 42. His funeral was held at Graceland on August 18th.
Today the King’s memory lives on.
