When famous illustrious moving into a neighborhood, it doesn’t always make the usual residents happy. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen apparently experienced this many years ago when they stayed short in a neighborhood in New York City. In fact, both of them were unfortunately described as “invaders” and “two damaged rugs” by neighbors.
Why were the Olsen couple upset in their neighborhood?
According to an article from Page six In 2008, Mary-Kate and Ashley lived in West Village and “rented two floors of brown stone on West 13th for $ 12,000 a month.” However, neighbors reportedly did not want a couple to be present because of what they were bringing to the block.
“A source said they saw the party princesses piling out the gas guzzlers in their small club suits in the wee hours,” the service wrote. “Since then, it has not gotten worse. One resident called the weak fashionistas ‘two spoiled flags’ that ‘change the character of the neighborhood’ by posting outside security guards. ”
When Mary-Kate and Ashley returned to their place from a trip, security guards apparently forced some residents of the same keystone to move away from the outer stoop to give Olsen’s couple privacy.
One resident commented, “It’s a peaceful, quiet street. Lots of other celebrities around this block [Sarah Jessica Parker, Liv Tyler, Gisele Bundchen and Julianne Moore] they’re good neighbors and coming into the neighborhood – but these two are invaders. ”
However, Page Six noted that a representative for Mary-Kate and Ashley denied the story, saying, “If there were important issues, you would think that the neighbors would speak directly to Ashley or Mary-Kate, rather than calling the media. ”
Were Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen damaged growing up?
The report no doubt raised some questioning whether the Olsen couple were spoiled by growing up in the public eye. While we can’t say for sure what the answer is, Mary-Kate and Ashley have shared that they tried to grow up with some normal childhood.
“I grew up going to school regularly and I still have friends from that time in my life,” said Mary-Kate Elle in 2008. “And how cunning and hard-working my life was, my parents knew how important it was to have a normal life too.”
The couple also attended college for a time. They joined New York University together in 2004. They would also receive monthly allowances growing up.
