Gilbert first got to know Sheen through his girlfriend, Rob Lowe. Lowe was a member of the Banner Pack alongside Emilio Estevez, son of Martin Sheen. So Gilbert would often hang out with Lowe and his friends at Sheens’ home.

Martin Sheen’s tales of filming ‘Apocalypse Now’

Once when the group was exchanging filming stories, Sheen talked about what happened to him filming Apocalypse now by Francis Ford Coppola.

“He described the now infamous tales of how he was cast while shooting the opening scenes of the film, how he landed on the mirror and how it was actually produced, and how production was closed after suffering a heart attack, ”Gilbert wrote in her memoir, Prairie story.

When asked what it meant, he said: “You don’t want to be an acting actor… This is the worst job in the world. It will break your heart, and then it will break your heart again, and then just because it won’t take af * ck it will break your heart again. ”

While Gilbert was overwhelmed by Sheen’s intensity, she also understood what it meant.

“Few businesses are tougher than the show business,” she wrote.
