Summer Walker and Willow Smith are two women to be seen in the world of music. The ways in which they have entered their musical careers are very different, but that does not change the fact that they are both talented young artists making a name for themselves. But despite what they have in common these days, the two don’t seem to be getting along. Are they fighting? Were they ever friends, first? Here is what we know.
Summer Walker worked hard to get into music
According to the Los Angeles Times, Walker was born in Atlanta in 1996. There is little information about the young singer ‘s young life as she is very socially disturbed and avoids most interviews. She was clearly interested in early music, and has been singing since she was 15. She taught herself how to play the guitar by watching YouTube videos, and she learned to sing by imitating soul artists she admired such as Jasmine Sullivan and Amy Winehouse.
When she was trying to break into the music industry, she worked cleaning houses and as a fighter until two heads met. It was discovered one day when the studio manager of the recording label Love Renaissance (LVRN) Googled her own name, which also happened as Summer Walker. She skipped some videos that Walker had uploaded to YouTube, and immediately recognized her talent.
In 2018, Walker became the first female speaker to be signed by LVRN, with its progressive, sexually explicit album Over it position number two hit a Billboard 200 card.
Willow Smith had a different start
Born to two A-list movie stars, Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith, her journey to a music career couldn’t be much different. according to The Things, she grew up with every opportunity to explore and pursue her dream.
For Smith, that meant she was able to release her first song, “Whip My Hair” when she was just nine years old. When the song made an impressive performance on the albums, Jay-Z signed his label, Rock Nation. At 10 years old, she was the youngest artist to ever sign the label. She also won the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding New Artist.
Today she is back to making music after taking some time off to be a child, but although her career path has been different, she shares one thing. by Walker: she knows what it ‘s like to be in the public eye and she hates it.
Friends or feuding?
These two talented young artists may not have come from similar backgrounds, but they seem to have enough today that they seem to do well as friends. But somehow, that doesn’t seem to be happening.
Complex reporting that in May, Walker and Smith appeared to be in an argument. Walker posted an Instagram video of herself doing yoga, and a fan suggested she should join Smith for a workout. “Lol won’t talk to me,” Walker replied, suspecting the two were joking. Then again at the end of October, Walker posted on her Instagram story that Smith should change the way she works, so they can be friends.
There’s no information about the two spending time together, much less than they could argue about, so it’s possible that Walker is just hoping to hang out with Smith, and awaited her response. But whether the women are joking or just haven’t gotten the chance to get to know each other yet, fans are sure to make a good set of BFFs.
