Was Mads Mikkelsen’s Dry Performance in ‘Doctor Strange’ His Fault?

When one thinks of the actor Mads Mikkelsen, the word “dry” usually does not come to mind. If anything, it is notorious for outdoor performances, usually of a villainous type.

So when some Marvel fans took to calling his Strange doctor “dry” performance, which may resemble a hot grip or even a bad breath. Then again, fans also take to the defense of the actor, saying that no drought was done.

What has Mads Mikkelsen done?

Mikkelsen is originally from Denmark and first received the attention of his home country in fare as well as the Pusher film trilogy and films like After the wedding and Adam’s Apples, all in the first half of the 2000s.

He provided the British secret service for publicity in a 2006 version Casino Royale, the film that revived the James Bond license and gave us 007 by Daniel Craig.

Many Bond criminals are megalomaniacs bigger than life, but Mikkelsen stretched up the Bond formula a bit by playing Le Chiffre without the usual histrionics associated with Bond bad guys. One glance at his frozen cold look with blood pouring from an eye enough to stop even giving Bond.

That led to other deadly careers, most notably the famous fictional killer Hannibal Lecter. Mikkelsen followed some of the big steps by playing the part in the NBC series Hannibal, featuring the first cinematic Lecter, Brian Cox from the 1986 film Manhunter, and of course, Oscar Hopkins’ s Oscar – winning picture starting with The silence of the lambs in 1991.

But many would argue that Mikkelsen did his own duty in the series that covered Lecter’s early years.

Another big movie franchise came calling in the form of two big men with Disney – it showed Jyn Erso’s lead father in a Star Wars story Rogue One, and the 2016 villain Kaecilius Strange doctor. But Mikkelsen has gained so much fame Strange doctor he did not take much with him.

When most people think of that movie, they think not of Mikkelsen but of Benedict Cumberbatch and the wild images.

What do fans say about his performance of ‘Doctor Strange’?

One fan replied, “I repeated Dr. strange, and even though Mads Mikkelsen is an exceptional actor, his performance in that film is as monotone as it gets. Every scene with him feels like he is speaking words off a script without thinking about them. ”

Another fan commented that Marvel didn’t give Mikkelsen much work, saying “That’s not to blame, paper has more depth than that character.”

Critics of it Tomatoes Rotten his character was not so good either, saying he was “not used enough,” or “generic.” Writing for rogerebert.com, Angelica Jade Bastien said. “His difficult screen presence is perfect for this type of story. But Kaecilius, a former scholar of The Ancient One, is so inspiring and so small-minded that it’s impossible to forget Mikkelsen. ”

What other actors have weak connections?

Until recently, the general feeling was that villains weren’t like Marvel’s strong suit. Yes, there was Loki, but other talented actors have gone down into the background as well. Christopher Eccleston was so upset with his intro villain Thor: The Dark World that it was like the experience of putting a gun in his mouth.

At least Marvel gets a second look at Strange Doctor in Multiverse of Madness, which, thanks to the pandemic release dates, is the last Marvel film of the origin to be announced at San Diego Comic-Con last year.

Marvel has said WandaVision feeds into that movie somehow, so could the villain be a non-stop Scarlet Witch? She almost killed Thanos on her own, so she has a good chance of standing Mikkelsen.
