Decades after his death, Tupac Shakur remains a hip-hop icon who has a myth as great as his personality. It is often associated with other entertainment that was either coming up or enjoyed at the same time, and has a series of stories attached to it.
Mary J. Blige’s Queen of Hip Hop Soul rarely comes when people talk about Tupac’s connections, but the two knew each other. And according to a former Death Row bodyguard, the late rapper made an indirect intervention when Blige had affairs with his girlfriend, K-Ci.
Mary J. Blige used to be Jodeci’s K-Ci
In the early 1990s, Blige made a comeback with Jodeci-based R&B singer K-Ci Hailey. It has become common knowledge that the couple have had a troubled relationship for years, something Blige has talked about in open interviews.
During the VH1 Behind the music episode, she described it as hell. “I took hell into his life because I was already devastated. It brought hell into my life because it was already ruined. And that’s the result we ended up with: Hell, ”she said.
Things came to a head after K-Ci gave Blige a ring but he went on TV show afterwards and denied any intention of marrying her. A guest showed Blige a conversational show after she said she was engaged, and she felt humbled.
However, when they were together, they often had restless fights while on tour. He was reportedly at one of those times when Tupac was summoned.
An old guard says that Tupac picked up Mary J. Blige
Tupac began working with Death Row Records in 1995. After K-Ci and Jo Jo broke from Jodeci into a duo, they recorded “How Do U Want It” and “Toss It Up” with the late rapper studios at Death Row. The brothers developed a relationship with the past in business.
According to former guard Reggie Wright, Tupac knew them during the time K-Ci was heading back to Blige. Wright said Cam Capone News when the three R&B singers had stopped a tour in California, Blige and K-Ci must have been fighting.
“They went into battle. Somehow, she named Pac. Where was she and Pac cooled low. We had to run over to the Point Hotel, ”said Wright. He recalled that Blige ran from the side of the hotel and immediately jumped into the car.
“She was running down the side street and she jumped in the right car quickly. And Pac picked her up and lifted her. ”
Blige broke things with K-Ci
As one of the most celebrated couples in music in the ’90s, Blige and K-Ci were under constant public scrutiny. But Blige said that relationship needed to be left behind.
“He must be out,” she once said The Keeper. “It was something that held me back. He didn’t want me to have anything. He didn’t want me to sing when I was already a singer. It kept me back from shows when I had to get on planes. When I say mental and physical abuse, everyone knows it was him. He used Jodeci’s interviews to say horrible things about me. ”
K-Ci has since apologized for Blige in interviews but as well as co-operating once (and recording separately) after the split, it is unclear whether the two on friendly terms.
