Stanley Kubrick and Shelley Duvall would explode at each other while filming ‘The Shining’
Duvall admits that she and Kubrick were brutal when it came to Wendy ‘s character. The two had completely different views on the role. While Kubrick wanted the part to be strong and independent, Duvall says she thought Wendy would be more of a “battle-loving, loving housewife.”
She tells the oncoming person.net, “I’m a very cruel man, and I don’t want to be surrounded and told what to do,” she says. “Stanley pushed and pushed to get the performance from me that he wanted. The script wasn’t very specific enough for me to understand what my character was going through. I played it out as a battle but loving housewife who supports her husband through every sh * t in their marriage. Stanley wanted a tough, strong, independent woman. What I thought my character should have and what he thought my character should bring into one. ”
Shelley Duvall felt lonely while on the set of ‘The Shining’

She said, “I now remember a film that became a horror classic. I am amazed at the fact that people are still watching and talking about 31 years later. ”
