Every story needs a villain. And while fans of The Hunger Games Movies might argue that there is more than one villain in the movies, there is one that undoubtedly stands out in the minds of the viewers. President Coriolanus Snow is the film’s cold antagonist who instills fear of nothing more than whiskey. Donald Sutherland was a good choice for the unique part, but how did he become famous The Hunger games?
Sutherland is thought to be largely a veteran of the entertainment industry. His film career spans five decades and he has appeared in major films such as Casanova at Fellini, Cold mountain, and Profit & bias. When President Snow was thrown in The Hunger Games, many people accepted that he had been offered the job outright. But that was not to be for the actor.
Donald Sutherland explains his involvement with the films ‘The Hunger Games’
In the industry, there are several ways an actor can get a job. The main two, however, are trials and offers. Hearings occur when an actor (or the agent and / or manager representing them) applies for a position. If the throwing director feels like they might be very fit, they get a lab and compete against other actors for the part. But it seems that an actor of Sutherland stature will be fully accepted. This is when a producer, cast director, or director offers a particular part out to an actor sans audition. However, none of the methods previously mentioned have been applied to Sutherland The Hunger Games.
In an interview with GQ, Sutherland got candid about getting President Snow ‘s job there The Hunger Games. The actor revealed that he was fascinated by the script and knew he wanted to be a part of the film immediately. Instead of contacting his group and asking for a laboratory, Sutherland chose to write a letter outlining his interest in the project.
Sutherland wrote a passionate letter after reading the script
“No one asked me to do it,” said Sutherland, dismissing the thought that he had been given his job. The Hunger Games completely. “I wasn’t offered. I love reading scripts and it captured my enthusiasm. I wrote them a letter. The president’s role may have had a line in the script. Maybe two. It didn’t matter. I thought it was a really important film, and I wanted to be a part of it. I thought it could wake up voters who had been asleep since the ’70s. ”
At the time he read the script, Sutherland had not read The Hunger Games books at all. In fact, he had no idea that the books were very popular until after he filmed. However, the actor’s passionate letter was enough to capture the attention of Gary Ross, who directed the first film. The rest, as they say, is history.
Sutherland had no idea about the books of ‘The Hunger Games’ before they were filmed
“I hadn’t read the books,” said Sutherland. “To be honest, I wasn’t ignorant about them. But they showed my letter to the director, Gary Ross, and he thought it would be a good idea if I did. He wrote the wondrous poetic scenes in the rose garden, and created the intellect and wit of Coriolanus Snow. “We are delighted that Sutherland has gone out of its way to fight for President Snow. We can’t think for sure of any other actor playing the part.
