Since ‘West Side Story’ is a Disney movie, Rachel Zegler may be an honorary Disney princess

Steven Speilberg’s The Story of the West created in collaboration with Twentieth Century Fox. Even though this film is technically owned by Disney, that doesn’t make Rachel Zegler the official Disney princess. Not yet, anyway.

However, this actress often shares her love for the Disney princess and the actresses behind the characters. That includes Moana’s Auli’i Cravalho, who often chats with Zegler on social media.

Maria isn’t just a princess in her film, as she and the Sharks fight for their own area of New York City. However, she meets the “Prince Charming,” the director of the rival Tony. Unlike many of the other characters in Disney movies, however, this character never gets happily ever after.

This change of The Story of the West it will first appear in theaters in December 2020, although that date may change due to coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). Until then, Disney princess movies are available on the Disney streaming platform.
