Leonardo DiCaprio had to audition in front of Robert De Niro

Leonardo DiCaprio scratched Robert De Niro’s face to comment

“I remember there was a mustard jar sight, and he had to suck a mustard jar over and over again, it was an abuse scene,” DiCaprio said. “And he didn’t ask for a scripture, but I got up and said, ‘Is it empty? Is it empty? And I got up and screamed, ‘No! ”… I saw his face, and I sat there with my head looking like a red tomato and everyone started laughing at me. … And I sat there frozen, just thinking, ‘Oh my god, I was just scratching all this opportunity. ‘… And then Bob, in De Niro’ s traditional fashion, just looked at me and went, ‘It’ s good. ‘… ”

Leonardo DiCaprio feels the greatest nostalgia with ‘This Boy’s Life’

Although DiCaprio was only 15 years old when he joined This boy’s life, the film has given DiCaprio some of his favorite memories on set. For him, the film stands out because every moment of production was a new experience.

“In terms of memories, I am the most powerful about that film and I remember the set every day, because everything was so new to me,” DiCaprio said. “After coming straight from a sitcom where everything was very quiet, everyone was always joking around, to De Niro walking on a set. And the difference was that the kind of animation and presence he had with the crew was just – I was like, ‘What’s going on here? … I can’t tell what everyone is so bad about. … ”
