Melissa Gilbert had a lot to say about dating and almost marrying Rob Lowe in her book Prairie story, but Lowe barely scratched the surface of the relationship in his memory. According to the actor, there’s a good reason he didn’t go too deep in writing about Gilbert.

Lowe and Gilbert went on a date in the 80s, and they got involved and, after finding out she was pregnant with her baby, broke up. She later had a miscarriage.
Gilbert explained the memories as they fell in love, writing (via Today), “I fell instantly, hopelessly and firmly in love. We went from the first date to a couple immediately. I felt like I was hungry for Rob. ”
In an interview with 2009 with Today, Gilbert explained why things fell apart. “We broke up. She ran her course, ”she said. “I think we were just too young. ”
The pain of ending their relationship and suffering a miscarriage was a difficult time for the actor. “I had lost my baby and my relationship with Rob… and it hurt like hell,” she wrote.

He described being away from her while filming The strangers in Oklahoma. “I’ve been dating Melissa Gilbert back in LA, but her mother thinks I’m after her for her reputation and that she won’t let me visit,” she wrote in her book.
Lowe went on to share how she took part in the “tradition of honoring a time of fun on the road” and the pursuit of other women. “Sometimes you run girls, sometimes they run at you, sometimes it’s just for flirting, and sometimes it’s more than that,” wrote Lowe.
“My situation is a bit complicated with my long-term relationship with my girlfriend and there are times when I feel bad about that,” he said, adding, “Nothing upsets the situation. an inner voice that you want to ignore better than a couple. ”

Lowe had a lot of stories to tell about his time in the entertainment industry, but it’s surprising that he would shine over his time with Gilbert since they were so bad.

“Okay, I might go, ‘I wish they hadn’t said that’ or ‘I wouldn’t have done that,’ but that’s a feature of taste and style,” he said. “I have decorum in my book, which meant I didn’t get a lot of stuff in the book, but that’s okay.”
