Previously Outlander, Balfe has appeared in a number of popular projects, including Now you can see me and Super 8. But the actor had never done close-ups before. So when she joined the Starz series, she found herself in a whole new realm.

“But we were all a bit awkward about it, and in the beginning too, I was trying to figure out how I could personally draw lines about what I was comfortable with and what not. I was, ”she continued. “I also think it’s not until you see yourself later where you know, that you really understand the impact of such scenes out there.”

As an actress, she pays attention to those scenes

Outlander revolves around Jamie and Claire’s passionate relationship. The two are ready for travel time and a place to be together. And when they come together again, sex is one of the things that brings them closer.

And while Balfe respects the story and her character, she doesn’t take the sex scenes lightly. When you talk to Outcasts, she noted, is always careful about making these scenes only when they count.

“It’s also a difficult thing because, as an actor, you don’t get into this business to take your clothes off,” she explained. “You know, you get into this business to represent characters and sometimes that’s necessary to say something about the character, but it gets really hard when you’d expect it.”

“It almost feels like people sometimes expect special things from you without realizing that you know, that your family is out there, and the local priest is keep an eye on this show or whatever, and this stuff lives on forever, ”Balfe continued. “Of course, I don’t know, it’s still something to this day. It is always a compromise about what is necessary for the vision and what is expected. There’s always this kind of fine line because you want to respect the character, and you want to respect the scenes, but you want to protect yourself. “

Caitriona Balfe is torn about the image of her body during those moments that reflect ‘Outlander’ times

Balfe has been on the move Outlander for six years. But in that time, fans have watched Claire go from a young woman to a 50-something grandmother. In her conversation with Downie and Berry, Balfe suggested that she was torn about her portrayal of Claire, especially in the scenes where she is nude.

The actress noted that she couldn’t look too toned as it would challenge the character, but she also admitted that her insecurities made her think twice. “That’s a weird thing, because you’re always, or at least I always am, torn between these two things well, Claire wouldn’t go to the gym so you wouldn’t I should have a gym, ”said Balfe. “And, she’s now a woman in her fifties so you know, I should try to pretend that’s what makes me. But, then, you have everything personal to yourself ** right, right? ”

“You have your own shame and inadequacy and all that stuff, and you try to leave those at the door, but you also know that if you feel insecure, that goes which hindered your ability to lose sight of yourself, ”she continued. “So this is always what I fight for. Between leaving my s ** t at the door and also giving myself enough confidence to be able to walk into those scenes and not think about whether I have cellulite on the a ** I have or whatever those things are that kind of run through your head. We are not illegal people, and it is sometimes difficult to live up to expectations. ”

Balfe will also be his representative Outlander. She is currently working on Season 6, which is scheduled to begin filming in January 2021.
