As a tween girl, Gilbert aspired Batmanit’s Adam West. But then she looked Waldo Big Pepper and “the person [she] wants marriage ”changed to Robert Redford.
“I went through it Beat Tiger and Beat Teen magazines and locked my school locker with pictures of him, John Travolta, David Cassidy, Shaun Cassidy, Parker Stevenson, and How the West wonBruce Boxleitner, my future man, ”she wrote in her memoir, Prairie story. “Only in this business can a girl grow up and marry the picture in her locker!”
Gilbert was a regular contributor to magazines such as Beat Tiger and Beat Teen, although she did not “give sh * t.”
“I woke up the articles on these young men and I believed every word, knowing full well that the material written about me was not true,” she wrote.

Even though Gilbert’s locked press was full of crushing celebrities, she would not call him a “cunning boy.”
“I was too reserved for such shows, which I quietly did selectively,” she wrote.
However, the first time she saw Scott Baio on the Paramount lottery, she thought she could do a little heavy. Gilbert and her friend Tracy Nelson used to go to tapings of Happy days “Whenever possible.”
Although things certainly did not work out between Gilbert and Baio, she made a good friend from Happy days cast: Henry Winkler.
“I used to meet Henry Winkler, one of the most beautiful people in the industry,” she wrote. “As they would say inside Prairie speaking, he and I took light on each other. ”
