One of the breaks between Hargitay and Hermann happened around Thanksgiving Day. Hargitay says she made a fine dinner and invited a large group of people. She was upset when Hermann was the first to leave because she had put so much effort into the event. Hermann says he was trying to find a way to tell Hargitay that he needed some space and time to think about where the relationship was.

“I remember it was Thanksgiving, and it came to my house,” says Hargitay in the book. What makes a marriage last, by Marlo Thomas and Phil Donahue. “I had all these people – it was beautiful and a lot of work – and he was the first person to leave. I was thinking, Wait, what? Are you in or are you out? I’m inside, but I’m only inside if we’re both inside. I was in love and ready to move on. “

So we went out to dinner on Valentine’s Day, and we both gave each other the same gift. He was so cunning. We both shared a book with Andy Goldsworthy, our favorite artist. It’s called Time.

We saw a documentary on it called Rivers and Tides. It was about making art for now, with nothing to do with it. So when we went to this restaurant in Tribeca, I was so happy to give him this book for Valentine’s Day. And then I saw him pull out the same book and give it to me. I started crying.

Mariska Hargitay explains her tears

This was not the first time Hargitay had called at a date with Hermann. She also shouted during their first date when they were at a church service. Hargitay says she was moved to tears because she realized she had met the man. She says she was also emotional because she felt that God had put them together.

“Why was I crying in church about it? ”Asked Hargitay during her interview with Thomas and Donahue. “It can’t be physical. Yes, you are attractive, but I am not crying elegant people, so what did I know? Grace. That God had placed me here. I am constantly reminded – and those memories have been all the way – that this is right. Stay tuned. Do the work. The increase is huge. ”
