Feis and the City coming back, thanks to the folks at HBO Max. The original series starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristen Davis was a huge success on HBO two decades ago, so fans are excited to go back to their world. But that doesn’t mean there won’t be big differences.
‘Sex and the City’ returns on HBO Max
HBO officially confirmed Feis and the Cityrevived in a secret promo video. The series, title And just like that…, featuring Carrie (Parker), Miranda (Nixon), and Charlotte (Davis) as they navigate life in New York City in their fifties. The 10-episode series is expected to begin filming in spring 2021.
Particularly absent from the line is Kim Cattrall, who played the saucy Samantha Jones. Although Cattrall has expressed her gratitude for the role several times since the show went away, she has previously realized that she did not want to be an actress who was famous for just one role.
Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker controversy
As well as wanting to move on from SATC Cattrall and Parker had a bit of a cold war in their years on the show and then worked on both films.
Rumors of bad blood between the two began in 2004 when the original show was in its sixth and final season, according to ELLE. They both overcame the rumors first and were able to set aside their differences for both the 2008 and 2010 films.
But as profiteering grew, Cattrall admitted there were issues with Parker. She famously wrote in an Instagram post in 2018 that Parker was “unkind” to her and “no [her] friend. However, Parker has said she remembers their experiences differently.
When conversations are about a third Feis and the City film began to emerge, Cattrall made it clear that she had no desire to return to her role as Samantha in any future SATC projects. Instead, she wanted to focus on things that connected more to her personal interests. In 2019, she said The Keeper, “I don’t want to be in a situation for even an hour where I don’t like it,” noting that she prefers not to work on anything SATC-bound.
Kim Cattrall had thoughts on who should play Samantha Jones
However, Cattrall never has bad things to say about her character Samantha. She still believes Jones should be an integral part of the SATC hemisphere, and even told Piers Morgan in 2017 that she would like to redesign the post in any future SATC projects. She also told Morgan about the “toxic relationship” between her and Parker.
“It’s a big part,” Cattrall said of Samantha. “I played it past the finish line and then some, and I enjoyed it.” But in terms of looking back on the post itself, instead Cattrall had a different suggestion.
“Another actress should play,” she said. “Maybe they could do it African American Samantha Jones or Hispanic Samantha Jones. ”
However, Cattrall wished for nothing but the best for her constellations: “I am one of the audience who greets them. ”
