Kate Hudson and her brother, Oliver Hudson, have little to do with their father, Bill Hudson. The musician was married to Goldie Hawn from 1976 to 1982, and after their divorce he was absent from the lives of Kate and Oliver. Goldie started dating Kurt Russell in 1983, and they are still together today. And that is what the sisters regard as a father.
While there has been public drama between the two actors and their father, Kate has said she has forgiven Bill for abandoning him. She went so far as to name it a blessing in a 2016 interview.
Bill Hudson asked Kate and Oliver Hudson to stop using his last name
On Father’s Day 2015, Oliver shared a picture of him, Kate, and Bill from childhood, but the caption was not good.
“Happy abandonment day,” said the Separating up together wrote the actor.
On the same Father’s Day, Kate posted a picture of her Kurt with the caption, “Pa… I love you to the moon and back.”
Bill answered the posts in an interview with Inside Edition.
“It makes me feel terrible,” he said of Oliver’s post. Kate said, “If that’s what makes you feel better, change your name to Russell. It doesn’t mean I love you less. It doesn’t mean I wouldn’t want this to go away. That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t want to solve this, just close it already. ”
“Change your name to Russell,” he said. “I’ll throw you a party.”
Kate Hudson wants to reconnect with other children of Bill Hudson
Kate and Oliver have their own podcast called Revelry Sibling. In a new program that started on Jan. 8, 2021, founder of Fabletics said she wants to have a relationship with Bill’s other children.
“You know what I’ve been thinking lately? Dad, ”she told Oliver. “I’ve been thinking about our sisters that we don’t spend time with them and our brother… our brothers. We have four sisters we never spend time with. ”
“I was thinking about how everyone would get older. I only had this time, it would be good to have a little connection, especially with my sisters, ”she continued. “We’ve talked so much about brotherly relationships and troubled or good relationships, and we sit here like we have the best family, we’re so good. Yet we never admit that we have four more sisters. Four. So I’ve been thinking about the Hudsons. Thinking it’s important that we reach out to our brothers and sisters and maybe connect with them a little bit. “
Only time will tell if Kate is following through on that New Year’s resolution.
