Some relationships will never die

Hunter S. Thompson, born in 1937, decided early on to make things the way they were. He was known in his family as a troublemaker as he did not play by the rules, but he greatly helped in his chosen field of writing. Thompson wrote two novels called Fear and Love in Las Vegas as well The Diary of Rum. He also wrote for such publications Rolling Stone.

It was 1994 when Depp and Thompson met in a pub called Wood Creek Tavern. That was the first meeting. In an interview with ReutersDepp said, “I first met him when he walked into the Woody Creek Tavern shaking a big cattle prod and a Taser gun… He invited me back to his place, and I was looking at a shotgun nickel-plated on its wall, 12 yards. He says, ‘Do you want to kill him?’ … Well, It was about 2:30 in the morning, and then he said, ‘Let’s build a bomb! ‘So we picked up bombs out of propane tanks with nitroglycerin, took it out in the backyard and fired it. It exploded into, like, an 80-foot (24.3-meter) fireball. ”

With the first meeting so epic, it was clear that the two would get close, and so they were. The pair were inseparable to the point that they even lived together on and on over the years. In 2005, Thomson died of suicide at the age of 67. Thomson left a detailed list of his wishes for his funeral, with a cannon fired the ashes back into the grave. world. While many felt this was far too difficult and perhaps dangerous, Depp once again had his friend’s back. Or ashes in this case.

Depp cost $ 3 million dollars to buy a cannon and donated Thompson’s ashes. Depp then fired at him, taking his shot away from his friend.

‘The Rum Diary’ required a lot of alcohol

There are some movies that seem to call out for some fun, and The Diary of Rum fits that model perfectly. When Depp found a manuscript for The Diary of Rum in Thompson’s home, the couple knew they had to turn it into a movie.

The Diary of Rum tells the story of an American journalist named Kemp who travels to the Caribbean to write for a local newspaper. Things are going well, thanks to a lot of room when Kemp falls for the lover of a businessman with a less strong reputation.

Thomson died before seeing the film being made into a production, but that did not stop Depp from going ahead with the film. It was based on Thompson, after all, and Depp couldn’t resist the opportunity to play his old friend on screen.

Sometimes you just need to rest

It’s hard to make a film called The Diary of Rum without at least some rum. Or so you would think, at least. Whiskey was the drink of choice for the crew and crew.

according to Rant Screen, Depp and the film crew spent a lot of time dipping into the whiskey. This was because they were drinking Thompson’s favorite drink, which was Chivas Regal. Thompson may not have been physically present on set, but he still managed to turn the film on its head by not drinking rum.
