The obedience pours out for Alex Trebek. Following the news of his death, many people who knew him or followed him were late Jeopardy! hosting came to social media to pay homage. Among them were Ken Jennings and many other contestants who competed on the Trebek show.
Alex Trebek has died after battling pancreatic cancer
The news of his death was announced on November 8 Jeopardy!official Twitter page. “Jeopardy! It’s hard to say that Alex Trebek died peacefully at home early in the morning, surrounded by family and friends. Thank you, Alex, ”you read a statement.
Trebek, 80, had been battling pancreatic cancer for nearly two years after being diagnosed at stage 4 in March 2019. He was vocal about his treatment in the following months, telling fans in March 2020 that he had even fallen into depression at a point and was considering giving it up. However, he said:
I quickly cooked that up, as that would have been a great betrayal, a betrayal of my wife and Jean’s soul mate, who gave me everything to help me survive. It would have been a betrayal of other cancer patients who looked at me as an inspiration, and as a cheerleader of all kinds, for the value of life and hope. And it would certainly be a betrayal of my faith in God and the millions of prayers that have been said on my behalf.
He continued his work, entertaining Jeopardy! up to earlier in 2020 when a coronavirus crisis (COVID-19) forced production to shut down. He had hosted the show since 1984, when it was tapped as another for Art Fleming.

Contestant Angela Rasmussen also praised Trebek a picture of them together, tweeting: “Even though I lost (in Jeopardy Final by betting heavily on my fortune in favor of a bold philosophy and getting it wrong; I would have won if I hadn’t bet but without remorse), this is among my happiest memories. . RIP Alex Trebek. ”
Another contestant named Kendra James shared a photo with Trebek back when she appeared on the show in the ’90s. “I was on JEOPARDY! twice. In 1998 I was on the first special Back to School program. Alex Trebek was as cute as 15+ 10-11 year olds – my costume. I wore an overly bright silver shirt from Limited Too, which kept Alex joking (kindly) about the need to look in sunglasses. RIP. #Jeopardy, ” she wrote, reminding fans of his hilarious and humorous time.
Competitor Jonathan Capehart added, “How lucky I was to be on @Jeopardy and spend a minute with this kind soul. RIP, Alex Trebek. ”
