Jennifer Lopez Says She Learned ‘What Matters Most’ to Her This Year

2020 has been a challenging year for everyone, and Jennifer Lopez is an exception. The musician and film star reflected on what the year has taught when she accepted the People’s Image Award at the People’s Choice Awards on 15 November.

Jennifer Lopez admits her priorities have changed this year

In her acceptance speech, Lopez acknowledged how insignificant some of her previous concerns are now.

“Oh my man God 2020, 2020 wasn’t a joke, right?” Lopez said via WTOP. “I mean, by 2020 we didn’t care about winning this award, getting a name for that award. We were caught up by who sold the most records or had the opening of a box office or most subtle stuff. This year the leveler was big. He showed us what was important, what was not and for me, he affirmed the most important things, people. ”

Jennifer Lopez is making a new focus on giving

Lopez has always had a charitable instinct. She co-founded The Lopez Family Foundation, and helped raise $ 100,000 on Quibi’s Thanks Million, as well as other efforts.

Helping each other, loving each other, being kind to each other. The importance of that connection, that human touch and I understand that what I struggle with in everything I do, reach people, touch people. I believe that is what we all want, shared experiences, to know that we are not here alone. Your faith and belief in me motivates me to keep going. At times when I’m tired or knocked down like many of us have been this year, it’s my family, friends, babies and fans, you guys, who raised me when I couldn’t for me to build myself.

2020 just accumulated more odds against it

Lopez said she is used to addressing unfavorable views. However, she relies on the support of her fans, colleagues and loved ones.

“As a Latina and as a woman, we have to work twice as hard to get the chance,” Lopez said. “Sometimes my big dreams and aspirations made the people around me nervous. People would say you are a dancer, you cannot be an actor. The more they said I couldn’t, the more I knew I had to. So now here I stand, so thankfully, realizing that the real measure of my success is not in box office numbers or records sold but from the love I feel for you all and , I feel. ”

Despite his difficulties, 2020 brought some new achievements to Lopez.

“From being a little girl in the Bronx, New York, and having the privilege of performing on some of the biggest stages in the world… and even at the Super Bowl earlier in the year. years (that was a biggie), I saw and learned a lot and I’m still learning, ”said Lopez through GMA.

Jennifer Lopez hopes she can inspire the next generation

The People’s Image Award clearly made Lopez emotional. What she hopes is that eventually other young people will see what she has achieved and feel they can do it too.

“Real size gives girls of all ages and colors, from all over the world, the confidence to know that you can do anything you want, so many things. you want and to be proud of where you are from no matter where you are from, ”said Lopez.
