Jennifer Garner’s Sweet Potato Pie Recipe Surprisingly Eliminates 2 Common Ingredients

When Jennifer Garner is out of work, she enters work for her food brand, Once Upon a Farm. The company makes organic snacks for kids, toddlers and toddlers, and Garner is so fond of the farm-to-fridge snack bags, she eats them herself. One of the latest flavors is “Jen Farmer Sweet Potato Pie,” and is inspired by the sweet potato pie recipe Garner got from her grandmother.

Garner piped to her “Pretend Cooking Show” on Dec. 1. The video also starred her mother, Patricia, who cooked the holiday meal with her daughter over a video call. The Alias Alum and her mother recorded the video the day after Thanksgiving Day 2020 because, well, she and Ben Affleck ‘s children wanted more pie.

“@Onceuponafarm is celebrating #GivingTuesday with the launch of our official partnership with @savethechildren AND our latest combination – Farmer’s Sweet Potato Pie Jen! ”Garner write in her caption. “My grandmother’s love holiday recipe Exie – without the sugar! —WITH sweet potatoes grown on my family farm! —Contributions to @savethechildren! – this combination would have no more meaning to my family and me if I tried it. Special guest stars: my family! I love you @ emmaa.carpenter (and your extra camera work too). “

Did you catch that “without the sugar!” line? It’s true, the Once Upon a Farm recipe or Garner’s explanation doesn’t want sugar. (Natural flavors are the whole MO of the brand) Her mother adds sugar, though, and that’s not the step Garner jumps when she cooks this for her three children – she also puts in milk and eggs. Sugar, milk, and eggs are typical staples of sweet potato pie recipes.

Here ‘s all you need to make a Garner version of her Grandma Exie sweet potato package:

  • 4-5 sweet potatoes
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ginger
  • 1/2 tsp allspice
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp cloves
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 tsp salt

If you want to make a Pat version of the recipe (aka a Grandma Exie recipe she got from a fly put out by a utility company), you need 3 cups of milk and 2 eggs as well.

Jennifer Garner Sweet Potato Pie Guide

Here’s how to make the pie. To start, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Next, peel the sweet potatoes, cover them with water in a large pot, bring to a boil, simmer until the potatoes are soft, and then pour.

Next, Garner uses a hand-held blender to beat the sweet potatoes while they are still hot. Her mother adds the spices first, but the actress prefers to add them after this step.

When you are ready to add the spices, add all the spices required by the recipe.

“I use the recipe to start and then add more,” Garner notes in her guide.

If you are using the milk and eggs, add that next and mix in. This should reduce the color of your mixture and make the texture a little more creamy. If you make a Garner version, it will retain that name sweet potato orange color.

Next, pour the mixture into a baking dish with butter. If you made Pat’s recipe, bake for an hour. If you made a Garner recipe, just heat through. Add a pinch of small bogs and keep in the oven until browned, and your potatoes / desserts are ready!

Garner and her family do this for Thanksgiving Day, but let’s be honest, we shouldn’t limit what we get to a delicious snack right into the holiday season.
