Jaden Smith Said He Gets Along Better With Jada Pinkett Smith Than Will Smith: ‘I Think I’m a Mom’s Boy’

Jaden Smith seems to be closely related to his famous parents, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. As a child, Jaden worked on movies with his father, who seemed to have a lot of respect for his mother. But when Jaden was just 11, he admitted that he may have been a “mama’s boy” and felt closer to Jada than he did to Will. Here is what he said.

Back in 2010, Jaden was getting a ton of press as a result of his film adaptation of An Karate Kid. The young star had already made headlines for his commendable work playing Will’s son Pursuit of Happiness. And it’s clear that Jaden was going to be strong, because he was very comfortable in front of the camera starting at a young age.

The same year An Karate Kid debuted, Jaden went on The Late Show to talk to David Letterman about his young career.

Letterman started the conversation by asking Jaden to tell himself a bit about the audience.

“[I’m] 11, I like hanging out with my friends, yeah, ”said Jaden. The conversation about his acting career and family followed. Letterman photographed the whole of Jaden’s family and asked Jaden to talk about everyone in the picture.

While talking about family, Jaden briefly discussed his relationship with his stepbrother, Trey Smith, his sister, Willow Smith, and his parents. After talking about how Willow “bullies” him (even though he’s younger), he said he had a closer relationship with Trey.

Finally, Jaden talked about Will and Jada. “He guides me, he helps me a lot, and I love him and he’s a great guy,” Jaden said of Will.

“That’s very sweet of you to say,” said Letterman. “And your mother?”

“I really like her,” said Jaden. “I think I’m a bigger mum boy than I am a dad boy because when I shoot movies, my dad just pushes me to the brink of death.”

The man of the letter asked Jaden if Will was pushing him “in a good way. ”And Jaden explained that he’s only in a good mood some of the time, even though he gets plenty of good acting compliments from his father.

While it is clear that Jaden has a strong relationship with both parents, it is clear that Will is the one who pushed Jaden more than Jada did. And Jada visited this once during Red Table Conversation. Back when Jaden was filming An Karate Kid, she thought her son was getting pushed too hard, and it caused issues between her and Will.

On display, Jada said she and Will were “in constant conflict” over their treatment of Jaden. “I remember being established with Will and it was such a big struggle between him and me regarding Jaden,” Jada said. “And I understand why men take their sons away for whatever kind of hero training it is, because it is completely, completely, unfair and unnatural for a woman to sitting and watching something like that for her son. ”

Despite the issues, Jaden continued. And Jada and Will’s parenting styles seem to work perfectly together. As if Jaden was getting along better with Jada or Will now, we might never know – but they all seem to love and respect each other no matter what.
