As long as everyone knows Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, it is their children who are getting a ton of attention. Both Jaden and Willow Smith have achieved success in music, acting and art. And they are clearly keen to collaborate creatively.
Apparently their connection was not always strong. Jaden once admitted that his younger sister used to bully. Here is what he said when he was only 11 years old.
Jaden and Willow Smith have talked about their incredibly close relationship
Jaden and Willow are just two years apart, and they certainly have an unbroken bond. Apparently their parents want to thank them for being so close too. Willow explained to him Journal Interview that Will and Jada never made Willow and Jaden hang out. Instead, Will and Jada allowed Willow and Jaden to interact as they wished.
“I could have spent my childhood as, ‘I need to love this person. ‘And it will be a job,’ said Willow. “But our parents never said, ‘You have to love them. ‘It was more like,‘ You have your life. He has a life. And when you want to come together, when you want to commune, that’s up to you. ‘”
Willow then said that she understood that Jaden was the “yin” for her “yang”.
As for Jaden, he said he never felt rivalry in Willow, either. And that’s because “Willow has always been better.”
“We never got up because we could always do the same thing,” Jaden continued. “It happened so that Willow and I could go through every stage or different part of our lives that we wanted. ”
Jaden once said Willow is ‘bullying’ at home
Back in 2010, Jaden visited The Late Show with David Letterman. The actor was just 11 years old at the time, and Letterman started asking Jaden about family dynamics after he released a family photo.
Jaden first appeared to his half-brother, Trey Smith, and noticed that he was the coldest in the family. And when the conversation turned to Willow, Jaden didn’t have many good things to say.
“She bullies me a lot,” Jaden explained. And when Letterman asked how old Willow is, Jaden noticed she was just 9 years old.
“If she’s younger than you, how does she run the show? ”The guest noted a speech presentation.
“‘Cause I’m not allowed to push,” Jaden replied.
“When will they give the ban on pushing?” The man of the letter made a joke.
“I don’t know,” said Jaden. “I think she has to wait until she’s 18 so my parents won’t sue us. ”
Jada Pinkett Smith admits she didn’t raise Jaden and Willow the same
Although Jaden and Willow value their upbringing now, Jada seems to have known that she treated her children differently when they were young. E! News notes Jada acknowledged her presentation, Red Table Conversation, that she was much harder on Willow than she was on Jaden.
“Because I know in this world, we have to work harder,” Jada said. “I knew that [Willow’s] going to get it twice as hard. I needed you to be strong because I know what this world is like for us as Black women. ”
Jada went on to say that her “fear” of having “a black girl” also influenced her treatment of Willow, as she put her “in a position to be a little harder” on Willow. As for Jaden, Jada admitted that she would let Will succeed in his upbringing.
It seems that the struggle between Jaden and Willow described by 11-year-old Jaden is no longer present. We are happy to find that, despite their differences, they can come together today.
